Trump should have been some dirt-cheap one-off, who Republicans quickly saw was every bit as dangerous and unfit in action as he had proved over a tortuous campaign to be in words. Bare minimum, they could have proved to be the check on his imbalance and thwarted most of his rotten, incendiary impulses.
Trump and his evil, anti-American minions calculated that even if the story being reported at the time was 100 percent accurate, if an “enemy of the people” delivered it, it could not be trusted.
The truth is, the vast majority of this country is outraged. That we are feeling a bit helpless in the face of the Trump Dictatorship makes us Americans. We know evil when we see it. We know abhorrent, complicit and covering behavior when we smell it.
We know right from wrong.
These days, I’m as likely to feel like punching a person squarely between the eyes as I am to reach out to some random soul, grab them by the shoulder and cry. I am scared to death it could be the same person …
